NOISE MAKING
Thus far, I've never been able to stay away from the stage for too long. Playing live is being able to exercise (or is it exorcise?) that extroverted-introvert in me. I've opened [with former groups] for such acts as A Flock of Seagulls, Men Without Hats, Los Lobos, War, and have shared the stage with Carlos Santana, performing on many of the historic stages in San Francisco, as well as other cities in the United States. Another musical apex was our rendition of the National Anthem at a sold-out Oakland Raiders / Dallas Cowboys game fronting the Jorge Santana Band.
My baritenor vocal style harkens back to the days of crooners, such as Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley and even David Bowie — my personal fave — yet I suppose it's my Spanish heritage that brings out the core gypsy, inspiring my overall performance and energy.
However, I focus on writing original material, where I feel my artistry fully flexes.
My song, 'The Smiling Spectre,' made Jonathan L's Lopsided World of L international radio show "BEST SONGS OF 2022" list! Previously, my song 'Cool Cat' made the 2021 list!
My newest original single 'Nothing New (Under The Sun)' is out now, featuring Grammy-winner, Matt Becks on drums! Once more, sound mastered by multi-Grammy-winner, Michael Romanowski, Cost Mastering - Berkeley, California.
My latest offering is a 45th anniversary tribute to David Bowie's 'Ashes to Ashes' adapted into Spanish! The song features my brother, José Luis Peraza, on nylon and steel string acoustic guitars for a rendering that hints at flamenco.
